Siemens to equip Poland's Jaworzno III

16 June 2014

Siemens has secured an order worth €208 million to supply the turbine island for the Jaworzno III coal-fired power plant in Poland.

As part of the order, Siemens will supply a model SST5-6000 steam turbine, a model SGen-3000W generator, a SCon-7000 condenser, the condensate and feedwater system and the high-voltage components. The company will also offer technical consulting services for installation and commissioning of the turbine island systems.

Jaworzno III will have an installed capacity of 910 MW, a maximum net capacity of 843.5 MW, and a net efficiency of approximately 45.9 per cent, making it one of the most efficient steam power plants in Europe, Siemens says.

The plant is being built by SPV-Rafako for Tauron Polska Energia in a consortium with Mostostal Warszawa, with commissioning scheduled for April 2019.

Jaworzno III will replace older units currently installed by Tauro, which is expected to result in an approximate 25 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions.
