Siemens-Westinghouse to replace nuke's turbine parts

American Electric Power (AEP) has awarded Siemens-Westinghouse a $45 million contract to replace the three low-pressure turbine rotors at unit 1 of the Cook nuclear station in a move that will boost capacity by 41 MW. The upgrade to the 1,089 MW plant, which should also help prevent blade cracking, is due to begin in the autumn.
