Siemens wins contract at giant photovoltaic plant

Siemens is to supply all the electrical equipment for what will be the world's largest photovoltaic plant The scope of the contract for the 10 MW Bavaria Solarpark near Mühlhausen in Germany includes ten transformers for the 20 kV level, five gas insulated switchgear assemblies and 27 Sinvert solar inverters rated at 340 kV.

The control system is based on the Simatic PCS7, which will enable all data to be recorded and evaluated via WinCC. Siemens will also connect the plant to the public supply network and maintain the converters.

When the solar farm comes on line in 2005 it will be the largest of its kind in the world.
