Siemens has consolidated its growth in the US wind turbine market with an order to supply turbines for a 101 MW project in the state of Oklahoma.
The German engineering group has received an order for 44 of its 2.3 MW wind turbines from CPV Renewable Energy Company, a subsidiary of Competitive Power Ventures (CPV) Inc. The turbines will be installed at the Keenan wind project in northwest Oklahoma and are scheduled to enter operation in 2009.
Keenan will be Siemens’ first project in Oklahoma and brings the number of wind turbine orders received by the company for US projects this fiscal year to six. The USA is the largest market for Siemens’ wind turbine business, says the company.
Siemens’ scope of supply for the Keenan project consists of delivery, installation and commissioning of 44 SWT-2.3-93 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.3 MW each. A service and warranty agreement is also included in the order.
Wind power is one of the biggest contributors to Siemens’ environmental portfolio, which is growing at 10 per cent per year and which in 2007 had revenues of nearly EUR17 billion.
