Siemens wins power plant order in India

Germany’s Siemens has won an order for the construction of a 1.1 GW combined cycle gas-fired power plant to be located in Akhakhol in Gujarat Province, India.

The SUGEN plant will be developed some 300 km north of Mumbai on behalf of Torrent Power Generation Ltd, a subsidiary of the Torrent Group based in Ahmedabad, India.

The turnkey project is worth more than €400 million and will comprise three units, each with a gas turbine, steam turbine and generator.

Siemens will also supply the plant’s electrical, instrumentation and control systems. Commissioning of the first unit is scheduled for 2007.
