Solar fund buys 50 MW UK farm

14 July 2015

Bluefield Solar Income Fund has purchased the UK's largest solar farm, a 50 MW project in Norfolk, eastern England.

The Guernsey-based investment company completed the purchase of the West Raynham solar farm at the end of June, bringing its operating portfolio of UK photovoltaic (PV) facilities to over 250 MW.

The project was built by Maessa Telecomunicaciones, Ingenieria, Instalaciones y Servicios, S.A. (Maetel) and was acquired from the Chinese module manufacturer Trina Solar Luxembourg (EU) Systems SARL following the successful passing of performance testing among other closing conditions.

The project started operating at the end of March 2015 and will receive renewable obligation certificates (ROCs), a subsidy mechanism for large-scale renewable energy projects.
