Solar vineyard

25 January 2005

Premier Power has completed the installation of a 129 kW solar electric system, which features 784 GEPV165 solar power modules from GE. The Shafer Vineyards in Napa, California is the first winery in Napa and Sonoma counties to move to 100% solar power and the system should produce around 155 MWh per year.

The winery expects the project to pay for itself in energy cost savings in seven to eight years and is on track to receive a rebate of up to $490,000 from Pacific Gas and Electric Company through the utility’s Self-Generation Incentive Program, which covers up to half the cost of clean, on-site electric generating systems.
