SSE posts 17% pre-tax profit rise

In its latest results Scottish and Southern Energy has reported a 17.2% rise in pre-tax profit to £714.8 million (€1 billion) in its preliminary statement for the year to the end of last March. Significant growth in generation and supply, where operating profit rose by 29.5% to £386.5 million (€560 million), saw it contribute 48% of SSE's total operating profit.

At nearly 10,000 MW, SSE has the second largest generation portfolio in the UK, which generated 37.9 TWh of power in the previous year.
