SSE sells Beatrice stake

3 February 2016

SSE has confirmed the sale of a 10 % stake in the Beatrice offshore wind farm to joint venture partner Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).

The UK-based utility will retain a 40 % stake in the 588 MW project and will continue to act as the lead operator of the project. CIP's stake has risen to 35 %, while Repsol holds a 25 % stake.

SSE said in a statement that the sale of the stake in Beatrice was "another key step" in preparing the project for construction. It is due to make a final investment decision on the project in March 2016.

The Beatrice project site is located in the Outer Moray Firth, 13.5 km from the Caithness coastline. The project was granted consent by Marine Scotland in March 2014.
