Teesside CHP plant starts commercial operation

The CCGT plant had supplied the terminal with electricity since 1999, the new facility will also supply process steam and will be fired from gas produced during the oil stabilisation process.

The moves follows a recent agreement with the UK’s Marks & Spencer chain of stores for the supply of CHP energy. The three-year contract, which starts in April 2006, will see npower business supply Marks & Spencer with 1,800 GWh of CHP, one of the largest such deals signed by a UK retailer
