6 May 2002

A jack-up barge has been erected in the Bristol Channel by United Utilities to sink bore-holes of up to 30m in an attempt to determine the feasibility of placing foundations for a £60 m offshore windfarm. If built the 30 turbines envisaged or the site would generate up to 90 MW, constituting one of the UK's largest windfarms.
