Three Gorges to be completed ahead of schedule

According to Chinese state media, the dam should reach a height of 185m by May, up from the 160m seen in late 2005.

Following the forthcoming flood season, the water level in the Three Gorges reservoir is expected to reach 156m. The main dam is located in the area of Xiling Gorge on the Yangtze River

Launched in 1993, the Three Gorges project is expected to be fully complete in 2009, when it will generate approximately 84.7 TWh annually from its 26 of its generators.
