Romanian hydropower company Hydroelectria SA is planning to modernize the Eisernes 224 MW Tor II hydropower plant, part of a national upgrading scheme. The project will be carried out by VA Tech Hydro which will renovate turbines and generators and install a new safety and automation system. The project aims to achieve a 15 per cent increase in output while reducing running costs. The 1050 MW Eisernes Tor I plant was renovated in 1997.
