TXU to install mercury controls

20 June 2007

“TXU Power will install new mercury emissions controls on every coal-fuelled generation unit in its system – the largest voluntary program ever undertaken in the nation,” said Mike Greene, chairman and chief executive of TXU Power.

The company currently operates nine coal-fuelled generation units at four different plant locations and the injection systems are also to be included as part of three new units planned for Oak Grove and Sandow.

Installation of SIS is expected to begin in 2008, and the entire fleet should have mercury emissions controls in place by 2011.
