UES cuts power to Georgia

14 July 2005

A UES controlled unit operating in Georgia has cut power supplies to some 230 public sector organisations over unpaid power bills.

Georgian grid company Telasi has already cut off power to bodies such as the Justice Ministry, a fire department and other administrative bodies. And the figure could rise to 350 public sector organisations by the end of the week.

The supply restrictions are thought to stem from outstanding debts accumulated in previous years and come despite recent payments for electricity supplies.
