UK unions back nukes

21 December 2004

Amicus and the Transport and General Workers" Union (T&G), two of the UK’s largest unions with 2.1 million members collectively, have called on the government to revise its energy policies and put nuclear power back on the agenda in order to prevent a looming power crisis. The unions are worried that future reliance on imported oil and gas is unsustainable and want the government to consider building new nuclear stations.

Both unions also want to keep coal-fired power on the agenda through the use of clean coal technology.
