Voith Siemens buys Esac Energie

Voith Siemens Hydro Power of Heidenheim, Germany, has bought 51 per cent of Esac Energie (of St. Loup-sur-Semouse, France), an export-oriented company dedicated to small hydro since its foundation. The company's new name will be Voith Esac Hydro. The two companies have been co-operating closely in the field of small hydro power stations since 1997.The remaining 49 per cent will stay with Esac, a branch of CMM Industries Group, a leading company in the welded construction field.

Voith Siemens has improved its position in what it considers an interesting market segment, expected to expand further over the next few years. Xavier Nicolas will remain executive director of the company, which achieves a turnover of around 5 million a year.
