Wärtsilä has boosted its services business in Brazil by signing a three-year operations and maintenance (O&M) for a 380 MW power plant.
The Suape II power plant is the largest ever built by Wärtsilä and was inaugurated at the end of 2011. Under the three-year agreement Wärtsilä will have a team permanently on site to operate and maintain the plant in order to optimise its availability.
Such O&M contracts are a cost-effective means of providing operation and maintenance services and allow plant owners to accurately predict plant lifecycle costs, says Wärtsilä.
Saupe II consists of seventeen 20-cylinder Wärtsilä 46F engines in V-configuration and is owned by Energética Suape II SA. It is an intermediate load plant, feeding energy to the grid according to demand and the availability of hydropower plants.
Wärtsilä now has O&M agreements covering over 1.8 GW of installed power generating capacity in Brazil.
