Xonon system to be used with 7FA gas turbine

21 January 2000

The Xonon low NOx combustion system from Catalytica has been specified by GE Power Systems for the 7FA gas turbines ordered for the Pastoria Energy Facility in California. This is expected to be the first commercial application of the Xonon system for the 7FA.

The Pastoria Energy Facility is a 750 MWe natural-gas fired project that has been proposed by Enron at Tejon Ranch, near Bakersfield, California. The project is currently under regulatory review by the California Energy Commission.

Construction of the plant is due to start in 2001, and commercial operation in 2003.

The Xonon combustion system for GE gas turbines is being adapted by GE and Catalytica under a collaborative commercialisation agreement.
