A new force in fluidised bed

Can gas challenge coal in Asia?

Asia’s electricity consumption increased by 4.5% year-on-year in 2016, with natural gas consumption increasing by 3.6%, and with average forecast annual economic growth of around 6% over the next five years, and given the strong correlation between economic and consumption growth, we should expect these consumption growth rates to continue. The question facing Asia is how will this demand growth be met while also meeting medium term climate objectives as set out in the Nationally Determined Commitments submitted as part of the Paris Agreement. Embedded simulation proves popular

Sales of OvationTM high-fidelity “embedded” simulation systems (see MPS, June 2016) have more than doubled in the past year, reports Emerson, signalling “significant demand for the virtual power plant of the future”, which helps minimise risk and improve power plant reliability. With Emerson’s “embedded” concept, control and simulation are integrated within a single automation platform, reducing complexity and also allowing power generators “to run their plants smarter and more efficiently.”

Doosan Skoda Power projects in Denmark and Jordan

Doosan Škoda Power reports that its scope of supply for HOFOR’s new CHP plant at the Amagerværket site (BIO4) in Copenhagen will include the complete turbine hall, comprising DST-S10 steam turbine (rated output 150 MWe), generator, heat exchangers, oil system, feedwater tank, steam and heat pipework, power and signal cabling, steel structures, bridge crane, fire protection system and lighting. Doosan Škoda Power will also be responsible for assembly of the turbine hall equipment including commissioning and subsequent guarantee measurements.
