A Shanghai Electric Group and Ansaldo Energia consortium has signed a contract with North West Power Generation Company Ltd for the design, procurement and construction of an 880 MW combined cycle power plant to be built in Rupsha, western Bangladesh, with operation envisaged in three years time.

The new plant will employ two GT26 gas turbines which will be manufactured at the Ansaldo Energia plant in Genoa. In addition to the gas turbines, Ansaldo Energia will provide generators, auxiliary systems and on-site support for the project.

Shanghai Electric Group, as well as leading the consortium, will be responsible for construction and will also supply the steam turbine.

...and Baden-Wurttemberg

Ansaldo Energia has been awarded EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) and LTSA (long term service agreement) contracts (total value €100 million) by EnBW for a 300 MW simple cycle power plant to be built in Marbach, Baden-Wurttemberg (Germany).

Marbach 4, to be operational by October 2022, will employ an AE94.3A gas turbine.

The contract is part of the German TSO network reserve project (besondere netztechnische Betriebsmittel – bnBm), prompted by the growing renewables contribution, with tenders issued in four areas of southern Germany. Ansaldo Energia has already been awarded an EPC contract for the southern Bavaria region (Irsching simple cycle power plant, also employing an AE94.3A machine).
