Big Cats for India

20 December 2000

Finning (UK) Ltd has carried out its contract to supply and install three Cat engine driven pump sets for the Indian Oil Corporation’s Patna pipeline station to supply power for pumping diesel and fuel oils. The three 3508DITA diesel engines are each rated at 507 kW at 1200 rpm with controls and instruments supplied to the zone 1 flameproofing standards necessary. The new engines are replacements, expected to operate continuously for the next 25 years, allowing for maintenance and overhauls.

In a follow-on order, Finning is to supply an additional two Cat engines by end-December 2000, for installation at Allahabad in Northern India along the same pipeline to the west of Patna.
