Dome sweet dome

Straddling the Greenwich Meridian is the Millennium Dome. When midnight strikes on New Year's Eve, standby power will be provided by Cummins.

NG Bailey installed three 500 kVA generators, driven by Cummins 19 litre KTA19-G4 diesel engines, to provide emergency power. The gensets are fitted with Y2K compliant controls, the PowerCommand from Cummins. This controls, monitors and provides diagnostics for the gensets. The gensets are housed in 3 of the 12 service pods which ring the Dome. These 3 service pods contain air conditioning units, emergency power generation, and fire sprinkler controls.
