Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) has completed replacement of a gas turbine at the Torishima Energy Center, a 140.5 MW combined cycle plant located in the bay area of Osaka operated by Gas and Power Co Ltd, an Daigas Group company.

The natural gas fuelled Torishima Energy Center initially went into operation in April 2002. MHPS was responsible for equipment supply and construction. The recently completed upgrade consisted of replacing the original M501DA gas turbine with an H-100 unit, while retaining operation of the original steam turbine. The retrofit has resulted in improved power generation efficiency and greater start-up flexibility.

The H-100 is a two-shaft 100 MW class gas turbine that, says MHPS, “delivers flexible, quick-response operation and high reliability, combined with low maintenance needs” as well as “fast start-up time and moderate space requirements.”

The H-100 gas turbine delivered to Torishima was the first unit to be assembled at MHPS’ Takasago Works. Production of the H-100 was shifted there from the Hitachi Works as part of the MHPS reorganisation of its domestic manufacturing bases in line with the continuing integration of the Mitsubishi and Hitachi fossil power businesses post 2014 merger.

...and H-25 to Taixing

MHPS has received an order for two H-25 gas turbines for an 80 MW double-train natural gas fuelled combined cycle power plant being built by China Resources Power Group in Taixing City, Jiangsu Province.

The plant, scheduled to go into operation in 2019, will be a standalone energy source serving the Hongqiao industrial zone (about 100 km from Nanjing, Jiangsu’s provincial capital), supplying power, steam for manufacturing processes, and cooled air for air-conditioning.

MHPS received the order through Harbin Guanghan Gas Turbine (HGGT), a member of the China Shipbuilding Industry Group. It is the third such order received from China through HGGT (a total of five units).
