MAN B&W Diesel has signed a contract to supply two diesel generator sets and associated mechanical and electrical auxiliary equipment for a 20 MW power plant to be located at a 54 000 m2 textile factory at Gaziantep, southeast Turkey. The contract, which is for the supply of two Mirrlees Blackstone 16MB430V HFO diesel generator sets, was signed with Aksen Enerji Elektrik Uretimi San ve Tic AS.

The main shareholder of Aksen is Akteks Akrilik Iplik San ve Tic AS, a Turkish textile manufacturer and exporter specialising in acrylic and polypropylene yarns.

The power plant will be implemented in two phases. For the first phase, one 10 MWe generator set together with common station auxiliary equipment for two sets, is to be installed. This first 10 MWe set will provide power solely for the Akteks textile plant this summer. A second 10 MWe generating set will be installed later in the year to provide power for other manufacturers in the Gaziantep industrial zone.

These will be the first Mirrlees Blackstone MB430 type engines in Turkey and the first order gained in collaboration with MAN B&W local representative Iltekno.

Regulateurs Europa will supply two local engine panels and a station control desk (pictured right).
