19 October 2001

The Kuwait Ministry of Electricity and Water has awarded a contact to provide consulting engineering services for the development of new power stations in Kuwait to Parsons Brinckerhoff International (PB). In order to increase power supply to the country, the Kuwait government is planning to construct a 2500 MW steam turbine plant at Az-zour North, adjacent to the existing Az-zour South power plant 100 km south of Kuwait City. A further 1000 MW of gas-fired capacity is planned at two sites, Shuaiba and Sabiya. PB will assist in determining the most suitable power unit capabilities for the facilities, prepare specifications and tender documents, carry out tender analysis, and supervise construction work at the site.
