Genset manufacturer Broadcrown has won a £1 million contract to supply its products to the new Meteorological Office headquarters in Exeter.

Broadcrown will supply, deliver and install four of its BCP2000 generators to provide standby power for the new, state-of-the-art weather station designed to reinforce the Met Office's reputation as a leading provider of first-class environmental services.

Broadcrown was chosen primarily because it could provide a tailor-made solution.

The four BCP2000 generators each has an output of 2000 kVA at 11 000 V. They are set to provide emergency stand by power facilities at the £80 million, 31 400 m2 site which opens in 2003.
