The Singapore power generator Tuas Power Ltd has placed an order with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Mitsubishi Corp for the Tuas Power Station Stage II, comprising blocks 3 and 4. The order for the two additional natural gas-fired combined cycle blocks at Tuas follows the order of blocks 1 and 2 which MHI is scheduled to complete this year. Each block at the plant comprises one M701F gas turbine, a heat recovery steam generator and a steam turbine, providing a generating capacity of 360 MW. Total power output from the two new blocks will be 720 MW. The plant is being constructed in western Singapore and completion of the two new blocks is scheduled for early 2006. When all four blocks are in service, the station will be capable of supplying over 30 per cent of the peak demand in Singapore.
