Speed trap

Parker Finn Filter has developed what it calls a ‘new generation’ of automatic fuel back flush filter, designated the ParTrap, for medium speed power generation and marine diesel engines. It’s designed for heavy fuel engines up to 200 l/min maximum flow, and is being sold as a compact solution saving 50 per cent of footprint by integrating all necessary components in one unit. The makers claim that trials indicate that the filter process, based on two metal mesh ‘candles’, is more efficient than other solutions, achieving a 50 per cent reduction in flushed waste. Other advantages include easy maintenance and inbuilt temperature control – maintaining a constant temperature renders separate warm up unnecessary. Maintenance has been speeded up by incorporating automatic filter chamber draining and decelerated filling after servicing.
