20 July 2001

• Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association Inc has purchased four GE LM6000 PC aeroderivative gas turbine generator sets from GE Aero Energy Products. The four units will be installed at a New Mexico site to provide 160 MW of capacity to member cooperatives at times of peak demand.

The 44 MW LM6000 Sprint units will be used in a dual fuel configuration with water injection for NOx control. They will be operated in simple cycle configuration. The units can be started and stopped on demand and will be controlled remotely from Denver. The four gas turbines will be equipped with the Sprint intercooling system which can boost output by more than 10 per cent compared with the standard unit. Commercial operation is scheduled for summer 2002.
