Voith signs contract for Henan Tianchi pumped storage plant
15 May 2018Henan Tianchi Pumped Storage Co Ltd (Tianchi PSP) and Voith Hydro Shanghai (VHS) have signed an agreement for provision of equipment for upgrade of the Henan Tianchi pumped storage plant facility.
Voith will supply four 300 MW Francis reversible pump turbines and generators and also auxiliary equipment. The rated head is 510 m, and the rated speed is 500 rpm. The plant is intended provide energy storage during valley demand periods, frequency and phase regulation, backup during incidents and black start for the Henan Province grid.
The first new unit is scheduled to enter operation by the end of September 2021 and the last in June 2022.
