Enfinity Global has reached 535 MW of operational solar PV capacity in Italy, with 18 plants now generating electricity across the regions of Lazio and Emilia-Romagna.

The projects are expected to generate almost 1 TWh of renewable electricity annually, according to the company. The solar portfolio is also forecast to prevent the release of 290,904 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions each year.

The milestone highlights the rapid expansion of utility-scale solar in Italy as the country seeks to increase renewable generation and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Enfinity said the operational portfolio will contribute to energy security while supporting industrial competitiveness and national decarbonisation targets.

“Reaching 535 MW in operation demonstrates our ability to deploy energy infrastructure that serves the country, generating value, employment and local economic benefits,” said Alessandro Ceschiat, General Manager for Italy at Enfinity Global.

The company said its Italian growth has been supported by project financing expertise, attracting more than €1 billion in investment for its portfolio. According to industry consultancy Elemens, Enfinity is currently the second-largest solar operator in Italy by authorised capacity, having surpassed 1 GW.

Beyond solar generation, the company is expanding into battery energy storage systems (BESS), with around 600 MW of authorised storage capacity in Italy. These developments form part of a wider 9.1 GW pipeline of renewable and storage projects.

Maria Diez, General Manager for Operations in Europe at Enfinity Global, said the progress reflected collaboration between employees, industrial partners, financial institutions and public bodies.

Italy has seen increasing investment in solar as permitting reforms and renewable energy targets accelerate deployment. The country added more than 6 GW of solar capacity in 2024, according to national energy data, bringing total installed photovoltaic capacity above 35 GW.

Enfinity Global, founded in 2019, operates renewable energy and storage projects across several international markets. The company reports a global portfolio of 39.6 GW, including operating assets, projects under construction and development-stage facilities.
