Indonesia’s PLN has awarded a contract to expand the Kalselteng coal-fired power plant in South Kalimantan to a consortium led by Itochu.
The Itochu consortium, which includes Hyundai Engineering and PT. Truba Jaya Engineering, will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of a 200 MW extension to Kalselteng, which currently consists of four 65 MW units.
Under the $400 million contract, the consortium will add two 100 MW units to the plant, with Fuji Electric and IHI supplying the main equipment.
Construction of the project has already started, and it is expected to be completed in 2020.
