Global integrated energy services company Kent has been appointed by ACWA Power as Owner’s Engineer for the Yanbu Green Hydrogen Hub, a major green hydrogen and ammonia export project under development in Saudi Arabia. The facility will be one of the world’s largest of its kind and a key element in advancing the country’s Vision 2030 clean energy transition strategy.

Located in the port city of Yanbu on the Red Sea, the project will deliver full integration across the green hydrogen value chain – combining renewable power generation, desalination, ammonia production and export infrastructure. Once operational, the hub will produce up to 400,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen a year, converted into more than 2.2 million tonnes of green ammonia for global markets. With over 4 GW of planned electrolysis capacity, Yanbu will be nearly twice the scale of ACWA Power’s NEOM Green Hydrogen Project.

During the front-end engineering design (FEED) phase, delivered through a joint venture between Técnicas Reunidas and Sinopec, Kent will serve as ACWA Power’s technical representative. The company’s responsibilities include independent oversight of engineering design compliance, constructability and safety, risk and design optimisation, and planning for the upcoming engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) stage.

John Gilley, CEO of Kent, said the company was proud to support ACWA Power on “a project of such global significance,” highlighting Kent’s experience in managing complex energy infrastructure. ACWA Power CEO Marco Arcelli described the hub as “a monumental step forward” in Saudi Arabia’s hydrogen ambitions, underscoring the partnership’s focus on innovation, scalability and sustainability.

Kent’s appointment expands its portfolio of energy transition projects in the Middle East, reinforcing its role in advancing decarbonised energy and infrastructure systems across the region.
