America breaks into Germany

21 June 1999

A partnership of GE Energy Services and VA Tech Elin has won a service contract for a major outage on a Siemens steam turbine in Germany. This is the first order of its kind for an American company in the German steam turbine market.

The contract was awarded by Bayernwerke, and work has already started on a 130 MWe steam turbine in Arzberg. GE's workscope encompasses complete turnkey management of the steam turbine inspection, including repair of the high pressure and boiler feed pump turbines.
