EDF sells Mexican assets

5 November 2007

French utility EDF has signed an agreement with Gas Naural for the sale of its assets in Mexico. The $1.448 billion deal is part of a disposal process that began at the beginning of 2007.

The deal involves five gas combined cycle production units with a total capacity of 2233 MW along with their operating company Comego and a 53 km long natural gas pipeline (Gasoducto del Rio).

Completion of the deal requires approval from the board of EDF, as well as from the competent French and Mexican authorities.

The plants being sold to the Spanish energy company are Saltillo, Altamira 2, Rio Bravo 2, Rio Bravo 3 and Rio Bravo 4.

The disposal is part of the EDF Group’s announced strategy to refocus on its activities in

Europe and to participate to the revival of nuclear power worldwide.
