Finland’s reactor slows further

13 December 2006

Following earlier delays related to concrete composition, project director Martin Landtman says that while extensive reinforcement work of the reactor building is in progress, the construction works have proceeded slower than planned. The equipment manufacturing has continued according to plan, except for the manufacture of the main coolant lines, with the plant supplier Areva deciding to recast a part of the pipe forgings.

Delays in the construction works and in manufacturing of the main coolant lines affected the time schedule of the fixed-cost project, TVO says.
