FRV plans Australian solar-battery project

9 December 2019

Renewable energy developer FRV has submitted plans for the construction of a large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) farm and battery storage facility in South Australia.

The company has outlined plans for a 100 MW PV farm and 50 MW/100 MWh battery in Clare Valley and is seeking approval from the state’s planning commission.

The Chaff Mill project will be built on two parcels of land near the town of Mintaro. The 380 ha site was selected because of its proximity to grid infrastructure, good drainage and strong solar irradiation levels, the company said.

The project could start operating in late 2021. It joins a large pipeline of solar and storage projects in South Australia aimed at meeting the state’s 100 per cent renewables goal by 2030.
