Negev CSP comes online

18 April 2019

Negev Energy has completed its 121 MW concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in Israel, it has announced.

Negev has brought the $1 billion project on-line and will operate it under a 25-year concession awarded to it by the Israeli government.

Negev Energy is 50 per cent owned by Shikun & Binui Renewable Energy, with Noy Fund owning 40 per cent and TSK ten per cent. The Negev CSP will make an important contribution towards Israel’s goal of generating ten per cent of its power from renewable energy sources by 2020, the company said.

The Negev project covers an area of 390 ha and is Israel’s largest renewable energy project. It uses parabolic trough technology and a molten salt thermal storage system that enables 4.5 hours of power generation at full capacity.
