Peakers for Southern CA

21 December 2004

Southern California could gain up to 500 MW of new gas-fired peaking capacity if plans by AES Corp are realised. AES is in the process of submitting applications to California regulators for permits to build on up to three sites. AES is proposing to build the new plants adjacent to existing plants such as the 2 GW Alamitos, 1.3 GW Redondo Beach and the 904 MW Huntington Beach gas-fired stations.
