Seagreen Wind Energy Ltd has selected MHI Vestas as its preferred supplier for up to 114 turbines for the proposed Seagreen offshore wind farm in Scotland.
Seagreen Wind Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SSE Renewables, was awarded exclusive development rights by the Crown Estate for the Firth of Forth Zone of the UK’s Round 3 offshore wind farm development programme in 2010.
Its phase 1 development – a 454 MW development located 27 km off Scotland’s Angus coast – secured a 15-year contracts for difference (CFD) contract in the UK’s latest renewable auction.
“We’re really pleased to welcome MHI Vestas to the Seagreen project as our preferred turbine supplier and look forward to working with them to harness the power of North Sea wind with their proven offshore turbine technology,” said John Hill, Seagreen project director at SSE Renewables. “As the project progresses towards a final investment decision, SSE Renewables and MHI Vestas will work together to continue to engage with the Scottish and UK supply chain to maximise Scottish and UK content.”
