The original agreement called for delivery of 300 MW in 2008 and 100 MW in 2009, but has been extended to include an additional 300 MW in 2009 for a total of 700 MW over two years.
Delivery of 143 of Suzlon’s S88 2.1 MW turbine will begin in the summer of 2008. A further 191 units will be supplied in 2009. Suzlon is also contracted for operations, maintenance and service of the turbines for two years and an option for five. PPM Energy is part of the Iberdrola group.
The news follows another recent announcement from the company that it had won an order from California’s Edison Mission Group for the supply of some 630 MW of turbines.
The two-phase contract calls for delivery of 315 MW of capacity in 2008 and another 315 MW in 2009, which along with previous purchases brings EMG’s total committed Suzlon turbine capacity to over 1,000 MW and makes it Suzlon’s biggest customer. Again using the S88 2.1 MW turbine, this agreement includes a five-year contract for service and warranty in 2008.
