Syntroleum to certify GE turbines for gas-liquid fuel

21 February 1999

Syntroleum announced that it has recently signed an agreement with GE Power Systems to certify GE heavy-duty gas turbines for use in the Syntroleum process (featured in Modern Power Systems, December 1998).

Mark Agee, president and chief operating officer of Syntroleum, said: "This agreement opens an attractive source for state-of-the-art turbines and it provides a broader range of turbine sizes to our licensees. The use of turbines has been, and will continue to be key to reducing the overall cost of Syntroleum Process plant designs. We believe that our joint development plans with GE will enhance our efforts to deliver future designs that will be lower in cost and more flexible than current designs."

The companies will cooperate to verify GE's low Btu combustion technology for use in the current Syntroleum Process, thus allowing Syntroleum and its licensees to have immediate access to GE turbines for projects under development.
