Tepco plans a digital transformation

20 October 2016

GE Power and Tepco Fuel & Power have signed a memorandum of understanding agreement to jointly develop and introduce industrial IoT solutions throughout the Tepco fleet of thermal power plants. The system will employ GE’s cloud-based Predix platform. As the first step in this agreement, Tepco FP will install GE’s Asset Performance Management (APM) software in Unit 4 of its LNG-fuelled 1520 MW Futtsu power station.
The Futtsu installation marks the launch of a digital transformation of the utility’s fleet to improve long-term flexibility and to help reduce life cycle costs for Tepco FP. The installation is intended to improve the operator’s equipment condition monitoring and diagnostics capabilities to increase plant reliability and also to allow the use of ‘big data’ and analytics to promote Tepco FP’s business and operational optimisation.
