Total Eren plans giant battery for Australia

7 February 2018

The company recently signed a power purchase agreement with Meridian Energy for the 200 MW first phase of the Kiamal solar farm in the state of Victoria and says that Mildura council has given development approval for a 100MW/380MWh battery storage facility at the site.

The Kiamal solar farm is in an advanced state of development and is due to be commissioned in 2019. The facility, near the town of Ouyen in northwest Victoria, is set to have a total installed capacity of 350 MW when complete.

It is not currently clear when the battery storage facility will be constructed. It will be the same size as a 100 MW/129 MWh battery storage facility built last year by Tesla in South Australia.

The Kiamal solar farm is expected to begin construction in the second quarter of this year. It will include single axis tracking.
