Wärtsilä has won contract to expand Turkish IPP

5 May 2017

Wärtsilä has signed a deal with a Turkish independent power producer (IPP) to supply the equipment for a 73 MW power plant expansion project in Samsun, on the Black Sea coast of Turkey.

Wärtsilä will supply four of its 50SG engines to Yesilyurt Enerji Elektrik Uretim A.S., with deliveries taking place “in the coming months”. The extended plant will be operational by December 2017.

The fast-track contract will expand an existing 128 MW power plant, which was built by Wärtsilä in 2011. The plant underwent an initial 17 MW expansion in 2013, and the latest project will help to enhance the flexibility and reliability of the Turkish grid.
