Wärtsilä wins Bangladesh contracts

20 May 2016

Both of the orders are for 30 MW power plants based on three 34SG engines running on natural gas and have been placed by Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), a Bangladesh-based business conglomerate.

The six new engines will replace obsolete generation capacity and will help MGI to improve the availability and reliability of power supplies for its production operations at the Meghnaghat Industrial Park, on the outskirts of Dhaka.

Surplus energy from the engines will be fed to the national grid. The equipment will be delivered in late 2016, and the plants are scheduled to be fully operational in early 2017.
