Hydro-Electric, the UK utility, has awarded a contract to repower its Peterhead power station to Siemens. Repowering will increase the efficiency of the plant from around 38 per cent to over 50 per cent, Siemens claims, matching current combined cycle efficiencies.
The project will cost $350 million. Work is due to start before the middle of the year, with completion due towards the end of 2000.
