Canadian gas pipeline company TransCanada Pipelines Ltd is to exchange a power plant in northern Alberta for a share in the Calgary-based Maxim Power. Under the terms of the deal, Maxim will pay just under $9 million for the Gold Creek power plant – $2.9 million in cash and $3.5 million in Maxim shares. This will give TransCanada a 7.7 per cent share in the power generator. Maxim has a string of small power plants in Canada, Europe and Asia.
