The Export-Import Bank of the USA has taken over $225 million in loans extended by commercial banks to Trakya Elektrik Uretim ve Ticaret in support of its 478 MWe gas-fired power plant in Marmara Ereglisi.
The power plant began operations in February 1999 and is Turkey’s first internationally financed BOT power plant. The shareholders are Enron (50 per cent), Midlands Electricity (31 per cent), GAMA Endustri Tesisleri Imalat (10 per cent), and Western Resources (9 per cent).
